Research, creativity, and solutions
to advance health equity

One of the benefits of working in public health is never having to answer the question, “What do you want to do when you grow up?” Health is connected to everything, and in each context, different tools and approaches are necessary. The "what" shifts but the "how" is consistent:

  • Committed to health equity and digging in to get to root issues;

  • Working with small groups of curious, compassionate people to solve complicated problems;

  • Looking to shift resources toward community control and prevention; and

  • Supporting partnerships between institutions and community residents that share power and start from a place of humility.

I try to bring a mix of humor, creativity, and accountability to everything I work on. When not working, I hang out with my family, get outside to hike with our dog, tend to our vegetables and chickens, swim in the Bay, or hit something with a racket or paddle.
